Infinity is a market-leading advanced analytics and call-tracking service working with some of the world’s most well-known brands. As a company, we’re ever evolving, using cutting-edge tech and a drive for success to see us through. Our growth is exponential, with annual revenue of (£)15m+. Our mission is clear, to become the best call-tracking provider in the world. There’s never been a better time to join Infinity.
Profile of Role
We are looking for an experienced Prompt Engineer to join our innovative team based in Manchester. In this role, you will be at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) development, responsible for crafting, refining, and optimising the prompts that underpin our AI models. Your work will directly influence the quality and accuracy of AI-generated responses, contributing to the user experience and the overall success of our AI products. This position offers the chance to work within a cutting-edge industry, collaborating with AI researchers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver world-class solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Effective Prompts: Create and implement effective prompts that guide our AI models to generate relevant, accurate, and meaningful responses in various contexts. You’ll need to consider user intent, linguistic nuances, and AI model capabilities to design prompts that elicit the best possible outcomes.
- Continuous Optimisation of AI Responses: Regularly evaluate and fine-tune existing prompts based on performance metrics, user feedback, and testing. You’ll work closely with machine learning teams to ensure that prompts are aligned with the evolving capabilities of our models and respond well to updates in AI algorithms.
- Experimentation and A/B Testing: Conduct rigorous testing on different prompt structures to determine which configurations lead to the most effective outputs. You will be responsible for setting up controlled experiments and analysing the results to refine prompts and improve overall system performance.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work alongside product managers, data scientists, linguists, and AI researchers to align prompt engineering with broader business objectives. This will involve interpreting technical requirements, understanding user needs, and translating them into actionable prompt strategies that improve AI functionality.
- Monitor and Analyse AI Performance: Analyse the outputs generated by AI models to identify patterns, inconsistencies, or areas of improvement. You will use data-driven insights to adjust prompt strategies and ensure that the AI consistently delivers high-quality responses.
- Innovate and Implement Best Practices: Stay informed about the latest developments in AI, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning. You will be expected to bring innovative ideas to the team, experimenting with new approaches to prompt engineering and adopting emerging best practices to improve efficiency and outcomes.
- Contribute to the User Experience: Ensure that the prompts you design facilitate a seamless, intuitive interaction between users and the AI. Your work will directly impact how users engage with the technology, so understanding and improving the user experience is a key aspect of this role.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document prompt iterations, testing outcomes, and best practices to contribute to a shared knowledge base within the team. You’ll also be expected to provide training and guidance to other team members who may be new to prompt engineering.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience working in AI, natural language processing (NLP), or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong familiarity with large language models (e.g. GPT, BERT, etc.) and their practical applications.
- Proven expertise in designing, testing, and optimising prompts to drive AI performance.
- Proficient in programming languages and frameworks such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying areas of improvement in AI interactions.
- Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Education: A degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related discipline is preferred.
